Dear Parents-Hard to believe we have covered 2 weeks of school already. We are working hard on all of the above good habits. Please ask your child which of these they are doing well and which they may need to work on. Important Dates: Curriculum Night: Wednesday, August 28, 6:30 pm Labor Day (Student/Teacher Holiday): Monday, September 2 Grammar: We are continuing to work on using correct punctuation, capitalization, and proofreading their writing. We will also be writing comete and compound sentences using a conjunction correctly. We have been having fun reviewing with Kahoots. Writing: We will be digging into the narrative genre. We will pick topics, prewriting an introduction, and actually writing an introduction using our notes. This next week we will practice and polish up our introductions and practice techniques for writing a good narrative. Reading: We have been writing reader’s response for what we are reading. We have also been working on and will continue working on recognizing the settings, main characters, theme, and summarizing the passage. We also have taken the I-Ready reading assessment to determine your child’s reading level, Lexile. I am also doing a BAS3 reading assessment on each student to also determine students’ reading level. We will have a reading quiz this Thursday covering the above topics. I showed the students how to navigate the 4th Grade website to find examples and notes to review for the quiz. If you want to check there yourselves, please go to www.dolvin4threla.weebly.com Classroom needs: Hard candy, i.e. Jolly Ranchers, Skittles, etc. Things to do

8-19-19 Dear Parents, We had an awesome first week of school. This past week our class spent time getting to know each other and our class expectations. We talked about our new school wide expectations when it comes to hallways, volume, and shared our hopes and dreams for this year. Feel free to ask your child about our 5 class rules, procedures. Over the next couple of weeks I will be introducing your child to many online resources. I will make sure to include those in our weekly e-mails but may from time to time send a random e-mail just introducing a new resource. Students will have their own Google accounts and will also be getting logins to other resources. When creating a username and password it will make it easiest for your child if you always use their student number as their username and their password either be their birthdate or something else simple that they will always know. J However, if you want to help your child remember their logins there is a place in the front of the agenda where students can be writing this information. Topics:
