November 26, 2018 Dear Parents, Hope you all had a wonderful time of Thanksgiving. I did and had a great day back with your children….they have been such a blessing to me this year…work hard, are kind and sweet to one another and me, fun to be around and well-behaved!! Thank you for doing such a great job parenting and being role-models for them. Our week ahead: Reading: We will be reviewing for our test Friday covering Figurative lang., Drama, Poetry, and Prose. I have a lot of notes on the 4th grade ELA website at dolvin4threla.weebly.com. Hit the down arrow, then students, reading, Unit 3 Q 2, and you should see Unit 3 Reading Poetry and Drama. Scroll down through the notes and find Figurative lang., Drama, Poetry, and Prose notes. We have been reviewing for a while. We will continue reading our chapter books and do a reading response to each chapter. Most students have their own book, so keep trying to check one out at the library or order one. Writing: We will be reviewing opinion essays. Students will write another opinion essay using paired text in class this week. Grammar: We will continue learning about adjectives and prepositional phrases and review all grammar from this quarter for a test next week. November 12, 2018 Dear Parents, Weekly updates: Reading: We will begin reading our Book Club books this week and continue our study of the elements of dramas (plays). We will have a quiz on dramas toward the end of the week. If your child doesn’t have their book yet, please check it out at the library or order it asap. Writing: Monday and Tuesday, we will be writing and typing opinion essays online and submitting them to Write Score, an agency who evaluates them. These will count as a test grade. Grammar: We will review progressive, linking, and helping verbs and have a quiz mid-week. Prepositional phrases and adjectives will be next on the agenda.
