DATES TO REMEMBER Monday, September 4 No School, Labor Day Book Fair Preview - 9/4-8 Buying –9/10-14 Grammar: We are continuing to work on interjecting dialogue using quotations marks and commas into their writing. Also, writing complete and compound sentences using a conjunction correctly has been a topic we are still reviewing. Another skill we have reviewed is recognizing and fixing fragments and run-on sentences as we proofread our papers. Writing: We will continue to work our way through the components of writing a good narrative. We are in the process of writing all 5 paragraphs. When these are polished, we will type them up on a Google Classroom Document. I will be making comments on their narratives as they type. Reading: We have been working on and will continue to making connections, drawing inferences, determining main idea, asking questions, visualizing, and summarizing. Again this week we will review themes. Also, we will begin our Book Clubs using the book each group picked on their level. We will review all these skills while reading. Upcoming Quizzes Reading: Quiz on Summarizing/Main Idea, making connections and inferences coming soon.
